Hello fellow anglers. What a great trip today. I Met the guys at the dock at 7 am and they were ready to bend the rod and that we did. Today I had on the boat with me John Ricky and Volley in from baton rouge and they said they were up for what ever was biting. It looked like the wind was going to be slack but before we could make it out into Black Bay it was pumping 20 miles per hour out of the west so we started hitting some spots around oak river and lake campo and we caught reds and drums almost every where we fished with a few specks mixed in. The reds ranged from 10 pounds to just over 17 inches all the right size for the grill. All of the trout were loaded with eggs so this full moon cycle will be the start of the spring spawn but I think the next full moon cycle will be the smoking one for the spring spawn.
Most of the fish were caught on market shrimp 2 feet under a rattling cork but we caught fish also on minnows and caught a few trout on glow coca-hoes with the chartreuse tail slow rolled off the bottom. We tried some top water baits and had a few strikes but no hook ups. The water was still just 72 degrees, down almost 4 degrees from last week. The reds were real aggressive but the trout were still a little slow to hit but its really close to blow out time.
The fish box continues to come back full of fish and if you would like to get your turn to fill up the box give me a call or drop me an email but you better do it quick because the days are filling up fast.
Remember our motto RAIN OR SHINE SLEET OR SNOW IF YOU COME WE WILL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Capt. Ron
