Hello fellow anglers. Fished today with two great fishermen from Columbus, MS who had high hope of loading the box with trout, reds and drum and they were not dissapointed. We ended the day with 66 trout, 7 redfish, 7 drum and 15 sheephead. The box was overflowing and the catch produced a lot of gallon bags of fillets. We had to do fight the heat and little wind but were fortunate enough to catch our fish early and get back to the dock before the heat stroke set in.  There is nothing quite like seeing two good friends enjoy a great day of fishing together and the company of each other while creating a memory that will last a lifetime. We hope to see them soon and really enjoyed fishing with them. Below are some of the pictures of the trip and some of the memories that were created.

If you would like to make a trip Capt. Ron Or Capt.  Hello fellow anglers. What a  fun group to fish with today, the family were in town for a few days of rest and relaxation and part of their vacation was to get  their part of the rod bending drag screaming action going on in Hope

dale and today the fish cooperated to the max. After filling the live wells with great live shrimp from Campos stock it was off into the absolutely stunning sunrise and a very successful day of fishing.

The first stop in Breton Sound produced 35 fat speckled trout and 1 red fish all caught on shrimp caroilin rigged with a light weight attached. We made a short move to another close rig and the trout were eating it up and we wrapped up their limits of trout there and went in search of some drag screamers and found a few nice red fish until the heat ran us to the dock with a box full of nice fish.

Today I had the pleasure of guiding Mr. Kip his sons Slade and his youngest son Bill and what a pleasure it was to fish and visit with their family. The final fish count for today was 75  speckled trout 7 red fish and 1 puppy drum.

Hello fellow anglers.  I had three brave anglers this morning because as soon as we turned out onto MRGO we were greeted with nothing but black clouds full of rain in every direction. They were especially omnious looking in the area that I wanted to fish first. We headed that way anyway to see just how bad it was near my first fishing hole. The waters were choppy and the skies were dark but they raise them tough in Kentucky and they said go for it. We went to a spot we have been killing them in and set anchor expecting some quick action. We got a couple of buckets full of Campo’s live shrimp and started chunking at them. We put a few in the boat but I was getting worried about the weather closing in on us so a lot of my attention was on our safety. We caught several nice trout, missed a lot more and then the porpoisies moved in and the bite stopped. We quickly pulled anchor when it became clear the storm that was in the west was moving east (which is exactly opposite of most front in our area). We ran west into MRGO and caught a few along the rocks but they were scattered out. We continued to stick and move until I knew it was time to seek some sort of shelter and I ran for a rig that we were able to get off the boat and under a concrete structure. JUST IN TIME! The rain came and came and came. We even tried some fishing while the thunderstorm was raving (I told you these were hard core guys) but had no luck. After about two hours of waiting it finally passed and we went in search of the elusive trout.  We went in toward the islands and the birds were everywhere. We were pulling up fish after fish but the majority of the fish were very small and we had to throw them back. We continued in and found a few trout, reds and black drum in various spots but by that time the tide had almost stopped and the fish bite was very, very slow. We hung in there until 3 pm and them called it a day. We ended up with a nice box of fish and some great company and stories about LSU and Kentucky basketball during the Dale Brown era when we had Shaq and Chris. All in all a good day on the water (which always trumps a great day at work) and several bags of Louisiana fillets to bring back to Kentucky with them. My fishermen were Dean Allen, William Bryant and Andy Crowley and I hope they get to come back to better weather and their limits of trout and redfish.

Hello fellow anglers. Today started great with my getting to host a father and his two sons. Dennis (Dad), Devon and Ryan arrived early and we jumped in the boat with high hopes of a box full of fish. The fishing started slow but we were picking up a few here and there. But one thing was for sure; it was smoking hot early and it only grew hotter as the day progressed. There was absolutely no wind and the humidity was off the charts. To my surprise it did not slow this family down one bit. We finally eased up to a rig and started catching some really nice trout on just about every cast. We were fishing about three feet under a cork with live shrimp and it would disappear as soon as it hit the water. We put quiet a few in the boat when out of nowhere another boat shows up and the action all but stops. We ended up picking up a few more big trout but there was other action going on at the front of the boat. Ryan, the youngest, was trying to get some angel fish that had shown up to bite his shrimp. I told him they are very hard fighters and were hard to catch and this only fueled his efforts to catch them. He eventually landed two big ones and caught another little one we let go. He also slammed the sheephead to the point we had to decide to throw them back or run out of space in the ice chest. He still caught them and got all the fight out of them which is what is really is all about anyway. We got back to the dock after the sun became unbearable and the black clouds and rain started surrounding us. I ended up cleaning the sheephead, angelfish and a few trout whole because Dennis said his mother-in-law really knew how to cook them that way. I sure am going to try some like that myself shortly and see how they turn out. Ryan caught several fish he had never caught before and the group ended up taking home two ice chests full of fish home to enjoy. I always enjoy hosting trips were young people are involved and seeing their reactions when the fishing is something they have never experienced. You cannot weigh the cost of that type of experience between fathers and their sons, it truly is priceless.  I hope they come back soon so we can do it all again.

Hello fellow anglers.  I love this business I am in because you just never know who is going to get on the boat with you in the morning. This morning I had a group of four from the Zachary area and one of them happened to be a friend of my brother’s, Ronnie, who is also a charter captain.  Eric and Ronnie had played football at Glen Oaks High back in the old days but when I introduced myself Eric instantly wanted to know if I knew a Ronnie Hope.  Well, sometimes I am not sure if that is good or bad but I went ahead and admitted that he was my brother. It is a small world. Eric is a teacher in Zachary and he and I talked all day long about the old days at Glen Oaks. On top of that we caught some fine fish and they were able to bring home a lot of filleted fish for future enjoyment. We ended up with a bunch of trout, a few redfish and some drum and sheephead mixed in. All in all it was a great day fishing with four great guys who knew how to fish. Below are the pictures of the trip that shows that Breton Sound is still hot and only heating up. Since we are one of the few open areas to fish inland right now you need to book early due to increased bookings and you never know when Wildlife and Fisheries will decide to close the area to fish with this oil still spilling in the Gulf.

Hello fellow anglers. What a great week end on the water with a wonderful family in town with their father in tow for a little fathers day speckled trout lip ripping fishing trip. Today I had the pleasure of guiding Mr. Fletcher his son pops and other son Greg who made the trip in from Monroe Louisiana to fish with us. CApt. Ricky had the first trip with the family and he worked his majic to end the day with a nice box of mixed trout reds and bay snappers and the guys fished the second day with me and we iced the cake in style with anothe great catch of mostly fat specks and a few reds mixed in and a few puppy drums mixed in. All fish were caught 3 feet under a rattling poping cork with Campos live and kicking shrimp.

Hello fellow anglers. What a great day on the water with a group of superior fishermen in from Baton Rouge and Prairie ville La. for some of the trout smoking action we are in the middle of in Shell Beach right now. I knew it was going to be a talented fishermen trip when the guys unloaded at the dock and they all pulled ou 7 foot 6 inch st croix rods with shimano salt water reels on them spooled with power pro line and rigged with the best color top water lures out there today and I wasn’t wrong these guys were some of the best fishermen ever that I have fished with on my boat.

It was pretty much one stop fishing today we pulled up to a rig in the sound and the trout were eating it up and the guys were slinging the fish 2 or 3 at a time into the boat and these fish were solid every one of them from 17 to 23 inches each with some in the 4 to 5 pound class. It didn’t take long to get their limits in the boat and we hit a few islands trying for a few red fish and did pick up a few but the guys were done and ready to roll before the sweltering heat hit. These  guys all could fish and have caught a lot of fish at there camps on Grand Isle but never the quality of big fish that we caught today. All in all a great time was had by all and they were already planing their next trip with us before we ever got back to the dock.

Hello fellow anglers. I had the extreme pleasure of fishing with one of my best friends from high school, John, (a long time ago) and his sister, Debbie, who brought their father to the camp for an overnight cookout and morning fishing trip.  We meet up late after a successful evening trip and I walked into camp with the T-bones hot of the pit, Rocky and Carlo’s macaroni and cheese, baked beans and some killer smothered potatoes. Whow, what a supper. After a lot of laughing and telling stories, and a few small libations, we all headed off to bed for an early rise to beat the traffic. We had a great day fishing, caught some nice trout with Debbie catching the biggest trout of her life, a 6+lb trout. While out on the water we witnessed a once in a lifetime site that I will never forget. Right after Debbie caught her fish and we took pictures we noticed the sky became real dark, real fast and turned around to see the largest water spouts (a tornado over water) that any of us had ever seen. Below we have the pictures of the big fish, a dock shot and all of the water spout pictures. Truly a memorable day for all of us and one we will always talk about in the future.

The perfect end to a perfect day!!!!!!! Priceless

The perfect end to a perfect day!!!!!!! Priceless

Hello fellow anglers. Its always a great pleasure to introduce the next generation of great outdoors men to our wonderful resources that we are so blessed  with here in Louisiana and today was one of those days. We me Mr. Marty and Chris (the fish slayer) at the dock and they were early ready and eager to get on the water for some great fish catching action and today was one of those days  in spades as they say. As we left the dock Marty said all he wanted to do today was get Chris on some fish and that was  just what we did at the first stop we started the day with some red fish but the bite slowed a bit and we made a move to some structure in the sound and the bite was on it was trout  after trout flying over the side until we had our limits. The slayer was as busy as a bee trying to keep up with the bite and asking questions about why the fish were there and why they liked the live shrimp so much.  After we accomplished phase one with a box of fat speckled trout Marty asked of we could catch Chris just one bull red fish and we slipped into one of my favorite red fish holes and it wasn’t 2 minutes and Chris was hooked up with the largest fish of his life and the battle was on and he also had an audience of Wildlife boys in a boat in the canal behind us that stayed to watch the whole battle and even gave a round of applause after we landed a fat 12 pound red fish for Chris.  The icing on the cake of a perfect day.

It was sure was a hot one today but Chris was a real trooper and he hardly never took a break between reeling in fish and catching more live bait to fish with he and uncle Marty had a great time and caught a box full of fish to boot. Before we even cranked the motor for the ride home Chris was already talking about his next fishing trip and how much fun he had today. Chris so much reminded me of my earlier days on the boat it brought back fond memories of some of my own earlier fishing trips and I think Chris will remember his first real fishing trip for a long long time also.

All the fish were caught today on live shrimp 3 feet under a rattling cork with live Campos shrimp. The fish count was 50 fat speckled trout 7 red fish and 5 bay snappers and 2 puppy drums and one wore out fisherman.

Hello fellow anglers. What  a great with a boat full of good fishermen. Today I had the pleasure of guiding Mr.Nathan Mr.Noel & Mr. Allen in from Natchez Miss. Vidalia la.  and Texas in for some of the trout slamming action going on right now. After loading up with Campos famous live shrimp it was one stop shopping as they  say we slammed the trout catching their limits in short order then made a slight move  around the rig and slammed the red fish and that was a wrap. These guys could really fish and that makes my job a lot easier. This was their second trip fishing with us and they said they would be back before the month was out.

The final fish count for today was 76 fat speckled trout  and 16  red fish up to 12 pounds. The wildlife and fisheries has opened up more area for us to fish and that  just make the fishing better than it already  is. All the fish fell today to live shrimp 3 feet under a rattling cork.
