Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a very nice couple in for some early fall trout and red fish action and we filled that bill today. After picking some of Campos live and kicking shrimp we headed out to th

e edge of lake Fortuna and we were greeted by several flocks of birds feeding on shrimp schools and under each group we picked up 4 or 5 nice trout on shrimp under a rattling cork but that bite quickly dried up. Then we started working the oyster reefs in Lake of the two trees picking at keeper trout as we went but nothing spectacular so we made a move to lake Calabase and found a school of trout on an oyster bed eating it up it was every cast for an hour until we had their limits of fine speckled trout and they wanted to try for some red fish so we made a move to the broken islands around the lake and finished of the day with 3 nice reds 2 puppy drums 75 trout and 3 bay snappers.
All in all it was a wonderful day on the water with a little cooler temperatures and a nice breeze blowing all day long and plenty of fish action from start to finish. Most fish were caught on live shrimp 2 feet under a rattling cork but we also picked up trout on opening night with a chartreuse tail bounced of the bottom and the reds and drums fell to dead bait under a cork also. The fall migration is in full swing right now and it wont be long until the fish will be stacked up real close in and those long boat rides will become a short jump to the inside lakes and canals of the winter fishing spots.
