Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a nice family in from Mississippi for a meat haul and they timed this trip just right. I met the guys at the dock at 6:45 after a night in the trailers they were ready for some of the rod bending action that they have been hearing about and with no winds in the weather forecast thats just what we did was fill the fish box to the rim with giant red fish, puppy drums and bay snappers with all the extra fish that the guys could handle.
I picked the guys up and with plenty of market bait we hit the sound and almost at every stop the fish were there and hungry with only a few of those barbed pain in the butts mixed in so it didn’t take long to fill the fish box with 5 reds 11 drums and 31 bay snappers and the guys caught and realeased fis for several hours until they used all the bait we had and we called a wrap. These guys were a blast to fish with and they cant wait until their next trip a little later in the summer. All fish today were caught using market bait Carolina rigged on the bottom.

Hello fellow anglers. This is Capt. Ronnie Hope coming to you with the fishing forecast from the Shell Beach, Hopedale area for the coming month of April. The fish have started their spring migrations out to the outside lakes for the spring spawn. With the water temperatures rising into the 75 to 80 degree range the white shrimp have started to pop up in some of the outer lakes and canals and with that the trout have started to gorge them selves and any baits that resemble a shrimp will work to catch them now. The red fish have started to move more into the shallow ponds and around the edges of the larger lakes in preparation for their spawn also that is coming in the next month or so. The reds have been real active on gold spoons fished just under the surface and most plastics in the darker colors rigged on a jig head bounced off the bottom. Also the old standard of market bait rigged 2 feet under a popping cork always works well. One tip for the fishermen for tis month is if you see birds diving on the water weather it be in a lake or in a canal they are usually eating shrimp pushed to the surface by feeding trout and the fish can be easily caught on plastics under them.

Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a very nice family in from new Orleans and New York for some of lOUISIANAS beast fishing. I met Mr.Les at the dock at 7 am and his son in law had to opt out because of a knee injury that he got trying to keep up with his son snow skiing but he said he will be out next time come rain or shine. The day started of with a little fog but not bad so we headed out to fish country and after a cool boat ride to the hot spot in Breton sound the action was on from the first cast until the boys cried uncle the fish were eating the market bait on every cast. The guys quickly filled the fish box with Red fish up to 20 pounds , black drums and all the bay snappers they could stand and believe me they caught at least 100 that we threw back.
Today I had the pleasure of guiding Mr. Les his grand sons Axle and Aiden and their friend Brad. These boys could fish good and the results were in the Fish box to prove it. All the fish today were caught on market shrimp Carolina rigged on the bottom fished dead slow. The final fish count for the day was 31 bay snappers 5 reds and 11 drums with several of the drums being over 30 pounds.
The spring week end s are booking up fast so if you want to get your week end day booked for some of the best sow trout fishing call as soon as you get your days lined out.

WINDY DAY AT THE BEACH
Hello fellow anglers. What a windy day in Hopedale. The weather man said it was going to blow about 5 to 7 mph but as usual he was WRONG because at the dock at daylight it was blowing 10 to 15 at least and as the day progressed it just got harder and harder but we were there and made a good day of being on the water. I met Mr. Ryan and his father in law at the dock and we headed into the marshes after some of those speckled wonders and at the first stop we got some good action with some good trout mixed in with some dinks but we had good action for about 2 hours and was able to put some meat in the box and when the bite slowed we moved on. Spot number 2 and 3 were dry so off to the west to a red fish spot in Four Horse lake and as soon as we stopped we caught a couple of trout but then Nada and made a short move to a cut and it had some reds in it and we caught and kept 5 and had some rats mixed in and 1 puppy drum.
It was a pleasure to fish with Ryan and Mr. Bob and it is alwasy fun to spend time out in the great outdoors with people that have the same passion for it that I have. The final fish count for today was 2 trout 6 red fish and 1 puppy drum. All of the trout were caught on plastics in variovs colors and the reds were caught on market bait 2 feet under a rattling cork. Not a terrible day but fun either way.

Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a really nice family. Today looked like it was going to be a tough one and with low water and 20 to 30 mph winds out of the south west it was exactly that but as usual we took the lemons that we had been handed and made a great picture of lemonade out of them. We started off close to the dock after some of the speckled ghost and sure enough they had lock jaw today so after hitting several spots that had been producing good trout but nada so time to shift gears and head for the red fish hole and at least we were able to make a good day of fish catching out of it because the red fish were there but spotty. They were scattered along the islands and were eating market bait 3 feet under a popping cork worked very slowly.
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Mr. Joey Mr. Dean and Mr. Sam in from Mississippi for some R& R. and they had stayed the night before in Capt. Dudes accommodations and at daylight they were up and rearing to go. The final fish count for the day was 17 red fish 6 puppy drums and 2 trout. a fun day was had by all and the guys cant wait until the trout start to spawn and the blow out trips will be on.
