Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a fun crew of guys. I met Mr. Alvin at a local church fair the other day and we started talking fishing (which just happens to be my favorite subject to talk about) and I found out that he loves to fish almost as much as I do and as we visited and as my grand babies rode the rides and had a big time at the fair we made a great connection and found out how much alike our families really were just alike and after the kids burnt out we shook hands and parted ways after exchanging business cards. Alvin said he wanted to make a fishing trip with me and sure enough about a week later he called and set one up and as they say the rest is history.
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Mr. Alvin and his buddies Mr. Sam and Mr. Mark these guys are all from the Central area have been friends for a long time and loved to get together on the water and today was just one of those days. We met in Denham Springs and followed each other to the dock and loaded up in the skeeter with a live well of Campos shrimp and headed out to the sound. Today one stop was all it took because shortly after we positioned the boat right the action was on and the guys were slinging speckled trout over the gunnel but today they were not nearly as bag as they have been in the last couple of weeks but they were the perfect eating size of from 12.5 inches up to a few that were 3.5 to 4 pounds but more school sized trout today than the bigger ones.
As the day progressed the wind started to howl and it got tougher and tougher to get the bait into the kill zone but we fought the wind and the guys did a fine job with getting their baits where they needed to be but as the winds picked up the water dirtied up and the bite slowed to a crawl. We kept fishing with sporadic action they would start then just as quick as they started they would stop again. So with a nice box of fish I suggested that we head to an interior pond on the inside that has been holding some red fish and trout and off we went but at the hot spot but when we got there the water looked like chocolate milk because of the 40 mile per hour winds so we kept riding and found a point that looked good and positioned the boat where the guys could cast to it and they were a few fish there and the guys quickly put 4 nice trout and 3 red fish and 2 flounders in the box to ice a good day on the water with a fun group of guys.
All fish today were caught on Campos live and kicking shrimp rigged 3 feet under a ratling poping cork fished up close to the structure. The final fish count for the day was 49 speckled trout 3 red fish and 2 flounders not a bad day on the water considering the howling winds that always make fishing a challenge even for the best of fisher men.
If you would like to make a trip Capt. Ron give us a call or drop us an email we would love to take you and your friends and family fishing but call early because the available days are going fast.If you would like to take a trip please give me a call or drop me an email and we can arrange the trip of your lifetime. SMOKING TROUT ACTION AT THE BEACH
Hello fellow anglers. Another great day on the water with a fun group of guys from all over the south in for a reunion of sorts on the water having fun and catching fish.Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Mr. Travis in from Mississippi and his law school buddies Mr.Jess in from Georgia and Mr. Nick in from south Carolina and boy could these guys really fish. the guys showed up at the dock early and were chomping at the bit to get to the smoking hot trout bite action that has been going on in Hopedale right now so with the live Campos shrimp it was off to the sound.
Today it was one stop shopping with as soon as the boat settled in the water the corks started going down and today the trout were HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! Travis had a slow start this morning and his buddies jumped out to an early lead but it didn’t take him long to get into the swing of things and start slinging big sow trout over the rail and into the fish box. In the first 30 minutes the guys put 35 nice trout on ice before the fish feeding frenzy slowed a bit and then we trolled a short distance and the fish action was steady from start to Finnish and every now and again the guys would catch a black drum or a bay snapper but mostly fine specks. As the bite slowed we made an idle to a spot that has been holding the perfect grilling sized red fish and sure enough they were still there and the guys put 15 good reds on ice and a few more big trout in the box and then the bay snappers moved in and it was doubles and triples on almost every cast.
Today was what I like to call the perfect storm for fishing because we caught every thing that we targeted today and in short order because at 9:45 the guys were out of room in the 140 quart fish box and were catching and releasing until they were burnt out. After a round of high fives and a round of cold ones for the ride in we took it to the barn with 49 trout 15 red fish and 25 bay snappers and 3 huge smiles in the books. All fish today were caught on Campos live shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling popping cork.
We are now booking snapper trips for this season on our new catamaran with My brother Capt. Ricky at the helm and this year is going to be a great on off shore so get your dates on the books early for red snappers grouper lemon fish or tuna or any other fish species you would like to target.
If you would like to make a trip Capt. Ron give us a call or drop us an email we would love to take you and your friends and family fishing but call early because the available days are going fast.If you would like to take a trip please give me a call or drop me an email and we can arrange the trip of your lifetime. THE BIG GIRLS ARE IN
Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a very fun group of guys in from New Orleans and the suronding aresfor some of this springs smoking fishing action going on right now in Shell Beach Louisiana right now. TYhis group of guys have fished for quite some time with my friend and have always caught fish and had a blast with us and today was another of those days because after all the bets were in place and the group split up over the four boats we busted out towards the sound to the spot that we have been smoking the mule trout BUT today with the strong winds pumping when we got there and I took a look at the water color I knew that this spot was toast but we still gave it the cursory check out and just as I had suspected NADA so off to spot #2 and that was all it took to fill the fish box to the rim.
As soon as we pulled up to the spot the corks started going down and the second fish was a GIANT because when he set the hook it was lines screaming and hoots and hollers and grunts immediately so the guys all reeled in to root him on in his battle because they all knew this could be the money fish because he was swimming around and around the boat and it took the big motor to run him down a couple of times before he spooled the reel but after a valiant fight of about 20 minutes we finally saw color and when he rolled up I said this is the one and he hit the net and according to the boca scale he was a 49.6 pound GORILLA drum and we took pictures and released him to fight another day. After all the high fives and beer breaks we got back to the second part of the bet which was the most fish per boat and as soon as we started back fishing the huge trout with some up to 5 pounds were eating up and in about 30 minutes the guys put 45 mule trout on ice. Then as quick as the bite started they quit so we moved a short distance down the canal and we started to catch trout again and a few drums and a few bay snappers mixed in. The action wasn’t fast and furious but steady all day long and before long the guys were burnt out and ready to head to the barn so we wrapped it up with a box full of fish and a boat full of happy fishermen.
After listening to the other boats talk back and fourth on the radio I knew we had a chance at the fish per boat bet and sure enough my guys swept the bets with 83 trout and 1 drum. All fish today were caught using Campos live and kicking shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling popping cork.My group today on the boat was Derek, Mike , Kimm & Kenny and this was Kenney’s first real fishing trip and he did a fine job catching plenty fish and dealing with all the ribbing from the other guys on the boat.
We are now offering off shore trips for tuna, red snappers, wahoo and grouper or whatever you want to target off shore since we just purchased an new29 foot Sea Cat catamaran boat and we will be taking groups on day trips and over night tuna trips and dive trips. So if you are interested in making a trip my older brother Capt. Ricky will be running that boat so if you are ready to realy get your rod bent give me or Capt. ricky a call.

RED FISH SLAM TRIP
Hello fellow anglers. Another great day on the water with Mr. Bill and Mr. Bob and today we were on a short clock because the guys had a 12 hour drive home and today they wanted to catch some reds and so off to the first stop that has been holding the perfect sized reds for the grill for almost 2 months and sure enough they were still there and hungry. From almost the first cast the guys were hooked up first with red fish then the bay snappers moved in and they were having a blast catching fish and giving each other a hard time and laughing and joking and already talking about their next trip down to southern Louisiana for some more of the best fishing any where in the world.
In short order the guys caught their limits of the perfect sized red fish and a box full of bay snappers and a few puppy drums mixed in and also 2 flounders ready for the crab meat stuffing. So with two smiling faces and a fish box filled to the rim with fish we headed to the dock at 10 am in plenty of time to prep-air the fish for the ride back to Alabama and the guys to make an early exit. All fish today were caught on live Campos shrimp rigged 2 feet under a rattling popping cork fished up next to the structures. The final fish count for today was 15 red fish 23 bay snappers 3 puppy drum and 2 flat fish. The guys had a blast on this outing and booked another trip in mid summer to continue the fishing memories that are made every day at the beach in hopedale.

Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a couple of really nice men in from northern Alabama for some of the greatest fishing any where in the world that we are blessed to have here in Louisiana. The guys came in for 3 days of fishing and on day one they went fishing with Capt. Dude and they came to the dock with a box slam full of fine speckled trout. On day 2 Mr. Bill and Mr. Bob jumped on board with me and off to the hot spot in Breton Sound but as we arrived the water looked like chocolate milk and after a short check out we made a quick move to spot number 2 but nothing but those spiked pain in the butt fish there so off to spot number 3 and that was the ticket because on the first cast Mr. Bob caught a nice 2.5 pound trout and from there the fish went nuts with the guys boxing 30 trout in just 15 minutes. From there we fished up the island and caught nice trout with some trout pushing the 5 pound mark until the guys caught their limits and a few bay snappers and 3 gorilla drums mixed in just for the line stretching drag pulling fun of it.
After the guys had enough trout fishing they wanted to try for some red fish but the winds had picked up to a stiff 20 to 25 so we headed to a protected spot that has been holding some reds and there was a few reds there and the guys put 3 nice reds in the box and 3 door mat flounder and Mr. Bob also picked up 3 trout on the old top dog to ice a perfect day on the water.
All fish today were caught using Campos live and kicking shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling poping cork. The final fish count for day twos action was 73 beautiful speckled trout 3 red fish 3 flounders and 5 bay snappers. On day three the guys wanted red fish so off to the red fish hole and they were there and hungry because in short order the guys swung two fine reds over the side and in a few hours the men put together a fine box of fish and that was all it took one stop shopping. The final days fish count was 15 red fish 25 bay snappers and 1 flounder. the guys have been fishing together a long time but they both said that this trip was one of the best trips that they have ever been on and I guess the over 300 fish that the guys caught might have a little bit to do with that.

Hello fellow anglers. This is Capt. Ronnie Hope coming to you with the fishing forecast from the Shell Beach, Hopedale area for the coming month of June. The spring trout migration is in full swing and the shrimp bait balls have started to show up but the unstable weather conditions just haven’t let them start their schooling up in large schools so the fish have been on the same patterns and that is not bunched up just scatterd but as the water temps come up to stabilize so will the fish action. In the coming month the trout will start to stage on the islands out in the Black bay area and in the Breton Island areas and in Breton sound around the oyster reefs and the small well heads. As the bait schools get larger the birds will show up on the interior ponds and school trout can be easily caught with any plastics and on live bait that the marinas have just started to sell but some times the trout run small under the birds so you just have to jump from one flock of birds to the next until you find some quality trout.
As the full moon cycle of June comes around the first wave of spawning trout will start to hit around the islands and other structures and can be caught on calm days on top water and large swim baits like the new tsunami baits in the small croaker colors. Also this time of the month the live croakers rigged Carolina style work really well fished on the trout spawning beds. The old standard of live shrimp is ALWAYS the best bet to catch fish any time that they are available.

Ricky give us a call or drop us an email we would love to take you and your friends and family fishing but call early because the available days are going fast.If you would like to take a trip please give me a call or drop me an email and we can arrange the trip of your lifetime. Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a fun group of guys in from Houston to put some meat in the freezer and we did just that. The guys stayed in New Orleans last night and were at the dock early in the morning rearing to go and with a live well full of Campos live and kickin shrimp we were off to the hot spot and sure enough when we stopped before I could get the anchor set the guys had 2 fish on the line and it went on from there with doubles and triples coming in on a regular basis. The fish today weren’t as big as the last couple of trips but we did have a couple of 3 and 4 pounders mixed in and the red fish made a few runs through and the guys were scrambling with multiple reds on the line trying to keep each others lines out of theirs but they did a fine job getting almost every fish to the net.
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Mr, Charles and his son David and Davids best friend Kip and all these men could really fish I guess its because Mr. Charles and his family live on a big lake out side of Houston and they fish on a regular basis but they rarely catch fish like they did today. Today was their first trip to the Shell Beach area but they said it surely wouldn’t be their last as a matter of a fact they booked another outing later in the summer before they even left the dock. The final fish count for today was 100 beautiful speckled trout 11 red fish 4 puppy drums and 6 bay snappers and 2 flounders. All fish today were caught on live shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling popping cork.
If you would like to make a trip Capt. Ron give us a call or drop us an email we would love to take you and your friends and family fishing but call early because the available days are going fast.If you would like to take a trip please give me a call or drop me an email and we can arrange the trip of your lifetime. Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a really nice guy. Mr. Ricky met me at the dock at 6 am and with a live well full of Campos live and kicking shrimp we were off to the trout hole or that’s what we hoped for.I knew that today was going to be a perfect day with little to no wind and a 1.3 foot tide range and the only negative is that it wasn’t a full moon but you cant have every thing but two out of three ain’t bad.
As we hit the first lake the birds were all over and after passing three or four groups we couldn’t stand it any more and had to stop and throw a few times and the trout were there and hitting every cast but most of them were dinks but we did manage 7 keepers in short order until they went down and we were off to spot number two and it was just the ticket to fill today request because from the very first cast it was solid action with fat speckled trout coming over the rail until in short order or by 8 am we had our limits of trout with a fer drums and a few bay snappers mixed in with some of the trout up to 5 pounds but most 17 to 19 inches.
With it being so early we decided to check out the red fish hole that has been full up with the perfect grilling sized reds as of late and sure enough they were there and hungry and in 30 minutes we had 10 perfect grillers on ice and a couple more bay snappers and 2 fat flounders just the right size for stuffing with some crab meat and baking. We also caught 3 puppy drums and one weird fish that I think was what they call a ribbon fish but defiantly one weird looking fish.
The final fish count for today was 50 nice speckled trout up to 5 pounds and 10 red fish 3 puppy drums 6 bay snappers and 2 door mat flounders. Most of the fish today were caught on live shrimp rigged 3 feet under a poping cork but we did catch several trout on plastics in the shrimp looking colors bounced off the bottom. A banner day today with solid action from start to Finnish and all quality fish so now is the time to fill your freezers with premium speckled trout fillets and with the full moon cycle coming on fast the days are going fast so get them while they are still available.
What a great fishing trip with a a fun group of guys who all work for a national chain and were in New Orleans for a combination meeting and fish catching outing and since the meeting part was over it was up to us to complete the second part of their trip and we were up to the task BUT the weather wasn’t our friend today because the weather man said it was supposed to blow 25 to 30 and amazingly he hit it on the head for once I guess even they get lucky every now and again.
We met the guys at the dock at 7:30 and after they got the bets set up we split up into two boats and I had the head cheese on the boat with me and that was Mr. Mike and one of his accountants Mr. Calvert and they were confident that we would win on our boat and that they would own the bragging rights until their next outing. With the winds pumping at daylight I knew It was going to be a tough day but as my dad used to say you have to deal with the hand you are delt and make the best of it and with that said we found a canal in the Biloxi marsh out of the wind as best as we could and it had some fish in it and the guys started putting fish in the box but no big fish like I knew it would take to win the bet but the action was steady and that’s when Calvert hooked into a big boy and boy did he fight with Calvert getting him to the surface several times and almost into the net but at the last second he made a final run and snapped the 30 pound leader and he was gone and we thought with him their chances of winning that bragging rights bet. But as the day wore on we had put together a good box of fish and all of a suddenMr. mike said there he is and it was a man and after a valiant battle put up by the fish we netted him and boy was mike beaming and chomping at the bit to get back to the dock to the weigh in and after we ran out of bait it was over except for the contest. We got back tot he dock and the other boat had a good day and thought they might have won the bet but they came up just a little short and Mr. mikes fish took the largest fish and the largest red fish so he swept the bet and locked up the bragging rights and the prize pool also and boy was he walking on a cloud.
All the fish today were caught on market bait rigged 3 fet under a rattling cork fished close to the bank. The final fish count was 8 red fish 3 puppy drums 1 flounder nd1 fresh water blue cat not a blow out but a good day with a howling wind from day light. It was the guys first time down to Louisiana on a fishing trip but they said that this trip might be a yearly happening especially after the boss won the bet all the other guys wanted a rematch.
