Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a very nice family in from Macon Georgia for some fast and furious speckled trout action that is in full swing right now in Shell Beach and with the weather prediction today looking  A little iffy at best but as usual the weather man missed AGAIN thank god.  I met Mr. Gary and his family at the dock after a couple of days of enjoying down town new Orleans and all that this great town has to offer they were ready to bend the rod and at the first stop the action was as fast as it gets with fat specks flying in the boat until a little shower came through and shut down the bite so off to spot number two and there out in the edge of the sound we wrapped up their limits of trout and caught and released for a while before they wanted to try for a few red fish so off into the marsh.

We started in a lake just off of lake Fortuna and right away we started catching gorilla reds but the guys just wanted a couple for the grill and these were just too big to be nay good grilled so we hit lake robin and the reds were there but just the opposite of in fortuna there were tons of rats and we weeded through  them and ended up with 3 reds the perfect size for grilling and also they caught 2 flounders along the way.The final fish count for the day was 120 fine speckled trout 3 red fish and 2 flounders. All fish today were caught on Campos live shrimp rigged 3 feet under  a  rattling cork.

If you would like to make a trip Capt. Ron  give us a call or drop us an email we would love to take you and your friends and family fishing but call early because the available days are going fast.If you would like to take a trip please give me a call or drop me an email and we can arrange the trip of your lifetime.                          Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a very nice family in from Denham springs Louisiana for a meat haul trout trip to fill their freezer for the winter of no fishing and lots of hunting. We met the group Mr. Billy and his son Travis and his sons best friend Paul at the dock at 5 am primed with a well full of campos live and kicking shrimp but when we hit the hot spot out in Breton sound and I started to fill the bait buckets almost all of the live shrimp were floaters but it didn’t seem to matter to the hungry speckled trout because from the first cast where Travis hooked a fat trout and almost lost him at the boat but thanks to a fast net man we caught him in mid escape and on ice he went. From there it was wild and crazy action until number 100 hit the box in just over an hour and a half and just in  time because approaching from the west was a storm that according to the radar had plenty of red level rain in it and after hitting a few spots for a quick check for reds on the way to the dock with only catching a few rats and the weather hot on our tails we hit the barn.

The speckled trout is as hot as it gets right now so if you would like to make a trip of a lifetime call me and get your date on the books or drop me an email. The final fish count for today was 100 fat speckled trout 1 red fish and 1 flat fish for stuffing. all fish today were caught on shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling cork fished  slow slow.

This is Capt. Ronnie Hope coming to you with the fishing forecast from the Shell Beach,  Hopedale area for the coming month of august. This month the trout fishing will be phenomenal with the rising water temperatures the specks  will be spawning all during the month but mostly during the full  moon cycle. The trout will be staging around the islands and can be caught on the calm days on top water baits such as the top dog in all colors but my personal best are the chartreuse with the bone bottom and the baby mullet colors. Also all around the islands trout and red fish can be caught using live shrimp rigged either three feet under a rattling cork or rigged Carolina style and fished off the bottom and also one of the best  big trout baits  is small croakers free lined on a #5 kahle hook over the trout spawning beds.

During August also look for the flocks of feeding birds out in open waters like Breton sound and lake fortuna and black bay because they will be feeding on schools of shrimp being driven to the surface by hungry speckled trout and can be caught on any forms of plastics rigged on a popping cork or fished fast right under the surface but some times the larger specks will be staged about 3 to 4 feet under the smaller trout feeding on all of the residual shrimp that fall through the smaller fish so it is always a good idea to try plastics fished a little slower under the schools.

The off shore fishing out of Shell beach has been phenomenal during the snapper season and during august the amber jack will reopen and the mangrove snapper are all over the rigs along with the trigger fish and grouper and can be caught off the bottom on all types  of cut bait. Sometimes they can be caught on buck tail jigs and diamond jigs in various colors but the bright colors usually work best. All in all August is set to be an awesome month for fishing either in shore or off shore but it Will be hot out there so make sure that every one stays hydrated with plenty of liquids.

Hello fellow anglers. What a fun fishing trip with a frequent customer of mine in from Gulf port Mississippi for some fun fishing and some quality time spent with family and friends. We met Jerry and his two modest (HAHAHAHA!!) sons and his daughters boyfriend at the dock at 5 am and loaded up with some of Campos quality shrimp we headed out into the sound and today it was a one stop trip because as soon as we got the boat tied up the corks were fling under and the big trout were fling over the  gunnel at a record pace with tons of huge white trout mixed in just for bonus fish. These guys could really fish so it didn’t take long for them to get their limits (100) of fine speckled trout with 156 white trout mixed in and 1 lone red fish just for the grill.

Mr. Jerry has been on the boat with me several times this year but this was his sons and their friends first trip to the beach but they assured me that it surely  wouldn’t be their last. It took all of about 2 hours for the guys to fill the fish box to its maximum capacity and we also were slam out of bait except for a few dead shrimp and we tried some spots on the way in but nothing but rats so with high fives all around and the beer box on empty the guys called it a  wrap and we took it to the barn.

If you would like to make a trip Capt. Ron  give us a call or drop us an email we would love to take you and your friends and family fishing but call early because the available days are going fast.If you would like to take a trip please give me a call or drop me an email and we can arrange the trip of your lifetime. RED SNAPPER MEAT HAUL!!!!!!!

Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a very nice family in from Denham Springs Louisiana to fill their freezers with some of those tasty  red snapper steaks and we have had the best by far snapper season in my life EVER.  This year the red snapper have been absolutlu huge and the cobia have been thick as thieves and the mangrove snapper have been big and eating it up as fast as you get the bait in the water its hook up and hold on. Mr. dave works very hard in several bussiness ventures to tyr and provide for his family in this ever cahanging tough world that we live in and it was a joy to see him take a break to get out and spend  some quality time with his family.

After working all nite at his night job running one of the finest poker rooms that I play cards at  in Denham Springs called the Tigers den poker room Dave picked his family up and his brother in law and headed south eager for some rod bending drag screaming fish action that this snapper season have been full of and one stop today was all it took because from the first drop down where Dave’s eldest son stabbed a gorilla snapper and it almost pulled him over board but I stepped over to give him a hand or two but for the most part super fisherman did it all by himself and from there it was crazy action with some times three fish on  at one time and the snapper shuffle going on all over the boat. It didn’t take long to wear out most of Daves kids except his oldest and he turned out to be quite the fisher man and was catching fish like wild fire and only took a few short breaks during the trip to try to stay hydrated.

Today we caught a mixed bag of gorilla red snapper mangrove snapper trigger fish lemon fish white trout and bull croakers. The final fish count for today was 16 red snappers 20 mangrove snappers 1 trigger fish 1 cobia 1 white trout and 1 bull croaker. It was a pleasure fishing with this group today and I especially enjoyed visiting with Dave’s lovely wife and talking about her dreams about one day living on a tropical island some where that the tropical breezes seem to take all the cares of the world off your shoulders. All in all a great time was had by all and we achieved my goal of making some memories that will be remembered  for the rest of their lives.

What a great fishing trip with a  couple of nice families in from Slidell to catch a few fish where they used to fish prior to hurricane Katrina. Mr Allen and his friend Mr David and Allen’s two sons and Davids 3 grand sons came in to get their share of the smoking speckled trout action going on right now in Hopedale Louisiana. The group showed up at the dock at 5:30  ready to give the boys what they have been driving their dad and granddad carzy about for years and that we did today because at the very first stop and the very first cast the specks were stacked up and hungry. We finally got all the boys with a line in the water and it was on because it only took about 2 hours of fishing to put 150 quality trout on ice. The boys had an absolute blast with the action on every cast the corks were fling down and the trout were coming over the rail 3 and 4 at a time along with a lott of misses and fish coming unbuttoned in the process but that part of the fun of a fishing trip.

It was a perfect day to fish with mostly over cast conditions and a stiff   breeze to keep the boys cool they had a blast and went through the bait in record time and with a fish box to the rim we headed to the house. All fish today were caught on Campos live and kicking shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling popping cork. The final fish count was 150 fine speckled trout and one puppy drum.

Hello fellow anglers. What a great fishing trip with a really nice group of guys in from Houston Texas for two days of the summer slam on the speckled trout that we have been putting on them as of late and day one  today was just another notch on the belt because from the first stop it was solid action although they re were small trout mixed in with the big ones we caught our limit of fat speckled trout at the first two stops on Campos live shrimp rigged 3 feet under a rattling popping cork. Then the guys wanted to try for some rod benders so off to the red fish spot and there were a bunch of reds there but most of them were next year keepers but they did manage to catch 2 keeper red fish and 6 bay snappers to go with 99 specks and so with the heat cranking up to HHHOOOTTTTT we called it a day and took it to the house.

On day two we met the guys at the dock at 5:00 to get an early start to try and beat the sweltering heat and at the first stop with little or no tide movement the fish were there but today there were more throw backs than keepers so off to spot number two out in Breton sound and there the fish were there but tyhe action was slow but we picked up about 25 more trout and the the bite just stopped cold.So off to spot three where the water looked gorgeous but there were only a few keepers there and that was a wrap. so with the heat bearing down we went back to spot number one and the trout were there and we finished out our limits and wrapped up our days there with smiles on their faces and the anticipation of their next trip we took it to the house.

Today’s fish count was 74 speckled trout and 1 lone red fish and 2 bay snappers and all of the were caught on live Campos shrimp rigged 3 feet under a popping cork. Also the off shore fishing has been phenomenal as of late and snapper bite has been retarded with so many snapper out there we have to move from rig to rif=g to try and get away from those hungry suckers and find other species that we can keep instead of having to throw the fish back and waste the bait.We also have a new 29 foot catamaran in our fleet that is great in  rough seas so if you would like to make an off shore trip drop us a line or shoot us an email an lets go bend the big rods one time.

We now have a new boat in our fleet to take anglers off shore in and its a 29 foot sea cat catamaran that takes rough water incredibly good and has a ton of room to fish on around the deck. We made a few trips so far and the red snapper are retarded right now they are literally at every rig and so hungry that limits of them are as quick as I have ever seen and after the box is full of snapper there are plenty  of other species of snapper to catch and grouper amber jack cobia and mackrel and the occasional dolphin mixed in. On the first trip for the cat we had 4 Captains a coast guard lady and 2 deck hands aboard and at the end of the day a full fish box of fish. The red snapper season only has a week or so left but we do have a couple of openings left. If you would like to get in on some of the smoking snapper action going on right now give me a call.

Hello fellow anglers sorry about the lapse in reports but I had a computer virus on my web site and it took FOREVER for the  computer guys to get it off my computer but now I’m back and up and running. Now back to the fishing reports and I fished two days with a lovely couple and their friend from Arkansas in for some R&R and some rippin lips on some speckled trout and we did just that.I met Mrs. Donna and her husband and their friend at the dock at 5:30 and we headed out the sound armed with Campos live shrimp and it was on from the first stop it was fish on fish on. At first all of the trout were keepers but as the day wore on some white trout and some smaller trout moved in so we made a short move up the channel and it was on again until we had a limit of trout and it was early so I asked the group if they wanted to try for some red fish and they said why hell yes so off we went.

We made one stop behind an island that has been holding some reds and bay snappers and sure enough there were some good fish there and after a few minutes the guys and girls all hooked up with several nice red fish and some bay snappers and they also caught several fish that they threw back for some other lucky angler to catch another day. So with a box full of fish and a boat load of happy campers we headed to the barn.

On day two with Mrs. Dona and her group it was even easier because we pulled up to one spot in the sound and caught 77 trout in about an hour and a half and it was off to catch reds again and back to the islands and they caught 4 red fish 1 drum and 6 bay snappers before they had to get back to the dock. It was sure a pleasure to fish with a very nice group of people that have a great time on the water and with each others company and I am looking forward to fishing with them again real soon.
