Hello fellow anglers what a great  fishing trip out at the beach. It looks like the spring fishing IMG_0176IMG_0171IMG_0173pattern is starting to kick off We made a trip into the close marsh yesterday with the group in from all over the south that worked for or were customers of the Victory pharmacy group and were these guys a pleasure to fish and visit with.

After loading up with Campos market shrimp we headed to the lake and one stop was all it took to fill the fish box to its maximum capacity. The tide was on a good rise and the fish were stacked to the maximum in a little rig feeding and staging to spawn. All fish were caught mostly on market shrimp but we also tried various plastics in most any color as long as it had chartreuse in it. These guys could really fish and had made many fishing trips together so it was pleasure to guide this group and mad my job a breeze. The  main main  had a great trip on Capt. Gene Dugas boat and he said he cant wait for the summer to make his next trip with us to smoke some of those sow trout that Breton Sound is so famous for.

These guy’s could really fish and had a great time catching fish and laughing and joking with each other and me and giving each other a hard time either about missing a fish or who had the largest fish of the day. The final fish count for the day was 15 puppy drums 14 reds up to 15 pounds and 19 bay snappers. These guys fish on a  regular basis and cant wait until next time we go out.

The fishing is as good as it gets for the early spring in the sound and in the interior marshes the fishing is heating up right now so if you would like to go stretch your line give me a call or drop me an email I’d love to go fishing with you. And remember our motto RAIN OR SHINE SLEET OR  SNOW IF YOU COME WE WILL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Capt Ron

The Storm is coming

Hello fellow anglers a little weather update from shell beach Louisiana. Made a few trips down in the last couple of days to get the boat and trailer out of harms way and to batten down the hatches in front of the storm. Yesterday the water was about 5ft above normal and was over the road at many of the low spots along the Hopedale highway and the winds were gusting to about 50 mph. Hopefully the storm will continue to the east and spare our area the full brunt of the storm although we will still get some of the storm surge affect that will be a whole lot easier to deal with than a direct hit by the storm. So lets all hold our breath and cross our fingers and keep up hope.

Thanks Capt. Ron

Update from Capt. Ron 11-11-09

Hello fellow anglers this Capt. Ron. the fishing continues to be stellar in shell beach. I had 3 charters this weekend and we kept a total of 425 trout 31 (some bulls over 20 pounds) reds 16 black drums and 3 flounder. The fish were caught on all types of baits including some fish on top water top dogs early in the morning in the chartreuse and bone colors and the baby mullet colors. We also caught a lot of fish on plastics in the tuxedo colors and any plastic with chartreuse in it.
Most of the fish fell victim to the always deadly live shrimp bought from my friends at Campos fine marina, and as long as they are available I will continue to us them in our efforts to fill our limits and our hearts (and our plates) with fun and fish.
The fish have moved into their winter time patterns and those spots very close to the docks like Lake Ameda and Hopedale Lagoon so the fishing now does’nt take nearly as much time or gas to get to where the fishing is good.
So until I see you on the water or in the woods keep your rods bent and your drags a screamin and your barrels hot. And remember RAIN OR SHINE SLEET OR SNOW IF YOU COME WE WILL GO!!!!

Thanks Capt. Ron
