1 big ugly sucker
dock shotHello fellow anglers. What a great day on the water with a very fun group of guys. Jason and his fishing buddies came in from Now Orleans early for a early start on filling the fish box and the beach didn’t let them down. The guys are used to fishing out of canoes in close proximity to the docks around the marinas and they wanted to go on a REAL fishing expedition so they called the king and he hooked them up.
The day started off with a stellar sunrise and a slight breeze a perfect combination to ride out to the sound so we fired up the yammahammer and off we went. The first stop was on fire with fish and were they ever hungry. Almost before I could get the rig hook on one of the guys was hooked up and that was the way it went until we had almost a full box of mixed fish including red fish drums and bay snappers. After the first rig we hit another rig close by and that was a wrap as they say.The guys could really fish and had a great time bending the rod with us. This was one of their first times on a chartered trip but they said it certainly wasn’t gonna be their last.
The fish today were caught on market shrimp rigged on a Carolina rig and also on shrimp 3 feet under a rattling cork. The final fish tally was 25 reds 10 puppy drums 25 bay snappers and 2 lonely trout (all the fish box could hold and then some). After the box was stuffed the guys caught and released for about 2 hours before we called it a day.
What a great day on the water the trout are starting tos show up now and the spring spawn is on the horizon probably the next full moon cycle should kick off the trout melee for the 2010 fishing season. The week end days are filling up fast so if you would like to make a trip give me a call or drop me an email i”d love to take you fishing.
Remember our motto RAIN OR SHINE SLEET OR SNOW IF YOU COME WE WILL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tanks Capt, Ron
