Zachary Construction Trout Slam Hello fellow anglers. The great fishing continues in Hopedale. We picked up our bait at Campos marina and headed over to beautiful Fort Beauregard to pick up our group for the day on the water. When we arrived at Mr. Johns place the crew was moving kinda slow I guess the evenings entertainment from the night before didn’t end until late and had them dargging. Eventually they all made it up and loaded up ready for some great fish action and the fish didn’t let them down.
we made the nice boat ride out into the sound and at the first stop it was fast and furious with plenty of quality trout coming over the gunwale and an occasional red and flounder mixed in. The bite lasted about 2 hours and just shut off like turning off a light switch but the guys asked if I k new were some red fish were hanging out and we were off to one of my favorite red spots and it was a wrap with 20 nice red fish in an hour with some of them up to 20 pounds. We made a couple of moves to some of the small rigs around Bay Eloi and hit pay dirt again to finish off their limits of trout and that was that. The guys were glad to get in out of the heat and get ready to get back to the work grind. Most of the fish today were caught on live Campos shrimp 3 feet under a rattling cork but we did catch several on a Carolina rig and a few on opening night plastics with a chartreuse tail bounced off the bottom. The final fish count for the day was 100 trout 20 reds 5 drums and 4 flounders.
The crew from Zachary are regulars and fish hard and have a great tim e every time we go out. the fishing is as good as it gets right now.In the last week I have fished all over Black Bay and all over Breton Sound and havent seen not even on hint of oil or not one dead or dying fish so if you would like to make a trip give me a call or drop me an email I would love to take you fishing.
Thanks Capt Ron
